Hunt on the Internet

Websites are increasingly cutting out the traditional recruitment agency. These job resources try to help match your skills, experience and interests with job vacancies. Many of these websites will even e-mail you when a suitable vacancy does crop up.

In addition, these often have further advice and information on the job hunting process. A few have quizzes that help you understand your preferences, strengths and weaknesses better too.

These are just a few of the better ones for you to try:
Remember to...
  • Recognize that there is a huge ‘hidden market’ for jobs that can only be tapped by networking and having a high profile.
  • Consider the advice of recruitment companies with care as they often work on commission so may not always have your best interests at heart.
  • Take a few minutes to go back to Chapter 3 to revisit your plan of action. Reading a book won’t accomplish anything unless you resolve to take action!
